That is a great shot of Haystack. I've surfed there a lot but only ever had it 'good' once. Nov '01 I think it was. There was a NW swell at about 5' @ 15 secs if I remember correctly, groomed by light easterlies. I got a late start because my friend's van ran out of petrol and we had to push it to the nearest station. Anyway, we got there for high tide. It was a dry hair paddle out and the waves were peaking off the needels and reeling right all the way in at about head high. It was almost woking like a point break. It worked for aobut 2 to 3 hours and then began to shut down as the tide dropped. It was the first time I surfed there. Never seen it remotely resemble that day since...

I tired to climb Haystack once when I was wasted and ripped a big chunk out of my leg on some barnacles. The camera didn't make it.

My buddy went over to the Sea Breeze in Seaside and got some burgers, which helped, and then we drove to the ER.
