Surf in Oregon

As a longtime surfing person I have come to grips with the fact that Surf in Oregon is never a given...

A local report:
I just got out of the water from actually surfing for an hour or so. I caught a few decent head high waves with clean faces before the wind trashed it. This morning felt like the calm before the storm and right now it feels like it's knocking on the door. I think it might be a long night.

Hi surf in Oregon-

Great photo on the site!

If you are interested in surfing and/or watching the 2006 Pacific Northwest surf contests, they are listed at http://www.onewahine.com

If you'd be interested in volunteering at a contest, just let me know as we can use all the help we can get!

With good thoughts,

Pamela

Like your assessment cold fickle sharky. I surfed East Coast out of NYC 35 years ago and we always felt so second rate to the West Coast and all that. But thinking back...our waves were curls! there was a wall for hanging 5. The water was warm, salty and thick. Glassy in the morning (hurricanes in August). Oregon is a lovely coast, but surfing is hard work. The waves riffle, hit deep water and dissappear. Oregon surfers must have the stoke to get rides out of those big cold riffles
