W WIND 15 TO 20 KT. WIND WAVES 4 FT. W SWELL 10 FT AT 11 SECONDS.
Part of me feels bad for these people...
Part of me feels annoyed...
Annoyed that they'd think surfing was a good idea...
On a day with storm surf & 20 knot onshores...
Annoyed with the person that rented them the softtops...
If that indeed was the case...
And I was super annoyed listening the radio...
"4 surfers were rescued...blah, blah, blah"...
These people were not surfers is my guess...
They were people in the water with pool toys...
And they had no business being there...
They're lucky things didn't end up worse.

They're surfers, just like people who are boaters taking their craft out in the water the very first time..... zero experience.

Always amazes me...
I did this stuff in Brookings for three years, was on a 44' MLB, we used to assist with these air rescues. I feel the same way, what are you doing out in this crap in the first place. But another part of me tried to realize it's the same as a teenager getting into a car for the first time and wrecking it...cost is about the same for the rescue, minus the hospital stay.
Just my two cents...
