No Leashes

N WIND 10 TO 15 KT. GUSTS UP TO 20 KT. WIND WAVES 2 FT. W SWELL 3 FT AT 7 SECONDS.
I'm sorry...
After a week of weak swell...
Waist to knee high surf mostly...
Still longboarders strapping 'em on...
a) it encourages kookiness, falling & flailing...
b) it negatively affects wave selection...
c) if it's small & you fall, you should swim...
d) all of the above & more...
Also, extreme yoga-like stretching, c'mon...
Anyway, it was perfect leashless surf...
Leave that thing on the beach...
Learn how to hang on to your board...
And don't take off on unmakeable waves...
Yelling "GOT IT!" when you don't...
And relying on your leash to save you a swim...
That's just like my opinion, man.

The only problem is when the kooks take off their leashes and little kids are playing on the inside, the kooks lose their boards and they smash into the little kids. Of course, if no little kids in the white water, then I agree with the post. Given the water temps in Oregon, probably don't need to worry about the little kid issue much.

Little kids grabbing loose boards is how half of surfers got their start(or should have).

The pussification of surfing is complete. Learn to dodge the board it's EASY.

Who's the genius that is teaching people to wax their boards nowadays? I mean if you only have enough wax to cover 6' of a 9' board, shouldn't you be on a shortboard? Why are they afraid of the last 3'?

Yoga stretch before a 1'-2' session is a FAIL......

Pussification or not, I'm just not that into ding repair... I guess it depends how close to the rocks you like to get.

Hold onto your board then if you don't do ding repairs..... c'mon people you're surfers not Faberge egg collectors.

A.R. ....... out......to surf!

I had some guy giving me sh^t a last week about not wearing a leash on my 9'10"sy after i was up on the nose and missed the grab on the wipe out. I said i would rather swim. There was only 3 of us in the water 8 Oclock in the morning.

My next board is going to be a single fin Faberge speed egg.

I'd be more apt to swim if I didn't have a 5mm wetsuit on in frigid water. And I'd be more apt to not wear a leash if I didn't suck so bad. But I'm still in the water more than half the "real surfers" I know...

complaining about how people surf is like complaining about how some people don't signal when they change lanes - pointless.

and when your log clocks a 3 year old little girl, I'd like to see you tell her aggro dade she's a puss.

If you can surf sans leash it's probably not worth the drive from Portland, IMO. Besides the valleys warmer the beer cheaper and there's no kooks in my backyard.

Stretching. Well after that dirve just mentioned, it's always a good idea, IMO.

Why swim when your surfing? I do that in the pool 3 days a week.

"no cords for longboards"
encourages awareness, timing, proficiency and respect (for riding waves.)

"No leashes" for pooches encourages sh!t on the trail and disrespect (for your fellow humans.)

stretch all you want, IMO there's only one spot worth being stiff.

leash = always in my fucking way.

shoulder to head high = use it for other peoples safety, personally.

I like to "leash" my woman to the radiator in my apt and make her eat out of a bowl, but only on the weekends.
